A History of Canadian Aerobatic Teams

Canada is a country with a long and proud tradition of airshows and display teams.

Starting way back in the 1920's, Canada has produced well over a hundred aerial demonstration teams, from the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Canadian Navy and now, the Canadian Armed Forces. Most have been short-lived... some were "unofficial"... and a few never even performed in public.

Nevertheless, they all played their part in Canada's airshow heritage, which is exemplified today by the world-famous Snowbirds.

The whole display was presented on an area of approximately 18 feet x 4.5 feet (5.8m x 1.5m) of table space. There are a total of 163 models on the entire display, including three in 1/48th scale, one in 1/32nd scale, and all the rest in 1/72nd scale. They were all built by 14 of our members.
