For our first overseas show since Covid and Brexit,
we returned to an "old favourite", the IPMS Belgium Nationals Show "Plastic
& Steel"... However, after many years being held in Affligem, it has now
moved to a completely new venue in Waregem.
Having said that, it retained the same friendly
atmosphere as before and it was great to see many old friends again from all
over Europe - several of whom we had not seen for at least five years !
The new "Waregem Expo" venue is easy to get to and is
a better shape/layout that the old Affligem venue, allowing more stands and
traders to be accomodated than before - and it was fully booked !
Seven of our members travelled from the UK, one from
Germany, plus we were very glad to be joined by three of our "ADTSIG
Netherlands Branch" who travelled down from Holland to spend the weekend with
us and add their models to our display tables. It was also the first time we
had seen them in five years too !
Our display was laid out on an area of approx. 5.1m x
1.5m (17 feet x 5 feet) and there were a total of 92 models on show, 4 in
1/32nd scale, 32 in 1/48th scale and the rest in 1/72nd scale.
Despite so many things being "new", we once again
had a great time getting together with many great friends to enjoying the model
show and partake in all the food and beer that Belgium is so famous for ! So we
are very grateful to everyone in IPMS Belgium and all those involved in running
the show, for not only making the very successful transition to a completely
new venue, but still making us all so welcome - as always ! |
