We are certainly no strangers to Belgium, as we
have displayed there more times than any other overseas country. But this year,
their National Convention was special and one that we could not miss - the 50th
Anniversary of IPMS Belgium !
As before, the show was held in the Bellekouter
Exhibition Hall, Affligem, situated to the North-West of Brussels. ADTSIG
members travelled from the UK, Germany, Holland and Austria to mount our
display there. Once again, this was another "joint venture" with the IPMS(UK)
Bomber Command SIG - and we were also joined by the IPMS(UK) Japanese Aviation
SIG too.
For our display, we had four single-depth tables,
giving us a total area of about 8 metres x 1 metre - but rather unusually
arranged in an "L" shape. But as we had previously planned a special tribute to
Belgian Aerobatic Teams (in honour of IPMS Belgium's 50th birthday !), we
adapted and staged this on the "corner" table, instead of as a display
"centrepiece".
There are 96 models on the whole display, two in
1/32nd scale, one in 1/35th scale (!), ten in 1/48th scale, with all the rest
in 1/72nd scale. They were made by eleven of our members. A point of
interest - one of the models on the display is actually made of
paper.... can you tell which one...??!
As always, we had a great time at IPMS Belgium's
biggest show yet. We made new friends and saw many of our old international
friends too. Our sincere thanks to all in IPMS Belgium for once again making us
so welcome ! |
